Couples Therapy
Couples often find themselves stuck in repetitive arguments and communication issues, unable to find resolution or agreement. This can leave both partners feeling rejected, abandoned, hopeless, worn out, and disconnected. Partners might also feel misunderstood, confused, and alone. Major events that bring grief or stress can exacerbate these patterns further, increasing distress and isolation. Over time, this wears on the relationship and each person, leading to a decline in overall wellness and life satisfaction.
As humans, we are hardwired for connection. Research shows that healthy relationships contribute to greater emotional, mental, and physical health. The opposite is also true and when we are struggling in our close relationships, it impacts all other parts of our lives. Couples therapy can help you and your partner find new ways of interacting and increase feelings of joy, intimacy, and overall life satisfaction.
As a couples therapist, I aim to help people break out of these dysfunctional cycles and move into more intentional, compassionate, and connected ways of interacting. I will work with you to identify your relationship’s unique strengths and challenges, and create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can both feel heard and understood.
I will teach you and your partner concrete communication and life skills, but I will also use experiential methods in session to help you expand and shift your emotional responses to each other. Working in this way cultivates self-growth, empathy and understanding while increasing joy, intimacy, and satisfaction in your relationship.
I predominantly use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), considered one of the “gold standards” for couples therapy, and integrate the Gottman Method, Nonviolent Communication, and Internal Family Systems.
Telehealth
I offer couples therapy via a secure, HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. I have done exclusively telehealth sessions since early 2020 and have found it to be extraordinarily effective and accessible for most clients.
In the majority of cases, I ask that couples join session sitting together in the same place.
Prior to the session, you will receive a link to join via email or text, depending on your preference.
You will need:
a place that is private and where you will not be interrupted
a stable internet connection
a working camera and microphone on your phone, tablet, or computer
to be located within the state of Oregon
